Randy Ayers, David Beatty, Mitch Bigel Named “Lawyer of the Year” in Raleigh Attorney Rankings

Myers Bigel is pleased to announce that three members of its talented legal team have been named “Lawyer of the Year” in the Raleigh marketplace.

Randy Ayers, David Beatty, and Mitch Bigel were recently recognized by the 2015 edition of Best Lawyers®, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

“Applying a great deal of craftsmanship to patent development is an important facet to ensuring quality so that they may stand up to scrutiny,” said David Purks, the firm’s managing partner, adding, “Randy, David, and Mitch understand that if a claim is written too narrowly, it will be difficult to successfully enforce it when challenged, which is just one reason they’ve been recognized by peers.”

Based entirely on peer-review, inclusion in Best Lawyers reflects the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

Ayers was named “Lawyer of the Year” in the Intellectual Property category; Beatty won in Trademark Law; and Bigel was recognized for Patent Law.

The three attorneys join seven others from Myers Bigel named to the 21st Edition of The Best Lawyers in America: Jim Cannon, Lance Lawson, Shawna Lemon, Julie Richardson, Grant Scott and Ken Sibley.

The recognition of the firm’s talent reflects its continuing serious investment in maintaining continuity of counsel for its clients. This effort has built a stable team of practicing patent lawyers, heavily engaged in improving their work and contributing to a supportive environment for clients and for one another, unlike larger revolving-door firms. The extraordinarily low turnover of attorneys at Myers Bigel allows clients to work with the same attorney familiar with their specific technology or science and individual business throughout the full length of the patent development, filing and grant process.

Without needing to re-learn the technology or business specifics, Myers Bigel attorneys can focus on quality to ensure development of a strong patent that can be successfully enforced in court.

The 21st Edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2015) includes 52,488 attorneys in 137 practice areas, with inclusion based on more than 5.5 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers. More than 17 million readers see Best Lawyers lists in dozens of city and regional publications in the U.S. including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Chicago Tribune, as well as in major business and general publications around the world.

Operating out of the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina, Myers Bigel represents corporate and university clients located in the Carolinas, throughout the Southeast, across the United States, and in Europe and Asia.
