MBSS Attorneys Analyze the Tafas v. Doll Decision

On March 20, 2009, the Federal Circuit issued a decision on the USPTO’s “proposed rules” in the Tafas v. Dudas appeal, recently renamed Tafas v. Doll. Press releases by the USPTO about this decision, and paraphrasing of those press releases by the general media, have led to considerable confusion regarding what the decision actually means. Accordingly, Alice Bonnen and Ken Sibley have prepared a short analysis to clarify the decision and its potential impact.
