Vernon Guthrie received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Clemson University, and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. As an undergraduate, he participated in a summer research internship with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In law school, he served as a staff member of the Tennessee Journal of Business Law. Vernon is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the North Carolina Bar. His practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical arts, including semiconductor devices and wireless communications systems and devices.  He has served as President of the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association.
