Myers Bigel Strengthens Chem Bio Legal Team with Addition of Heike Radeke, Ph.D.

New Patent Agent Boasts Strong, Diverse Scientific Background in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry

Myers Bigel has strengthened its talented Chem Bio legal team with the addition of patent agent Heike Radeke, Ph.D.

Dr. Radeke boasts a strong diverse scientific background in organic and medicinal chemistry.

“Like most members of our talented legal team, Heike has a strong scientific background with professional experience beyond the legal profession. This ability to connect with our clients on a technology level is the key differentiator between Myers Bigel and other intellectual property law firms,” Managing Partner Jim Canon said, adding, “We’re thrilled she’s chosen to join us.”

Dr. Radeke is an organic/medicinal chemist with more than ten years in the pharmaceutical industry with companies like Bristol-Myers Squibb, boasting a diverse scientific background in areas related to chemistry, chemical engineering, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, biochemistry, material science and alternate fuel energy. She has extensive knowledge in drug design and development of small molecules, peptomimetics, and macrocycles, such as structure-activity relationship (SAR) development, computer-aided drug design, chemical library design, hit-to-lead optimization, in vitro assays, and animal models of disease. Dr. Radeke is experienced in all aspects of chemistry such as organic/organometallic, medicinal, nucleic acid, polymer, solid phase, peptide, process, natural product, radiolabeling, parallel and library synthesis.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York at Binghamton (with a concentration in Materials Chemistry) and her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Boston College. Her doctoral research focused on the total synthesis of a natural product and isolation of its cellular targets using various biochemical techniques.

Dr. Radeke is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is fluent in German, French and English. Her practice at Myers Bigel is concentrated in the areas of patent prosecution in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological arts.
