Julie Richardson Named Winner of Business North Carolina Legal Elite in Intellectual Property Law
Myers Bigel is proud to announce that attorney Julie Richardson has been selected as the intellectual property law winner of Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite for 2019.
This is the 13th time Richardson has been named to the Legal Elite by peers active in the N.C. Bar voting on the state’s best practitioners in their fields.
“The fact that Julie has been recognized by her peers again and again speaks volumes to her legal knowledge and professionalism,” said Jim Cannon, Myers Bigel managing partner.
In addition to Legal Elite, Richardson was recently named to the The Best Lawyers in America© for 2019, the result of an exhaustive peer-review evaluation. She is past winner of the Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award and the Pro Bono Impact Award, which she received for her work co-creating “PROJECT TOGETHER,” a program now handled by Volunteer Lawyers Project providing representation to indigent clients in domestic violence court proceedings.
Richardson received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and her Juris Doctor Degree, with honors, from Duke University and has been practicing law since 1995. She has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patents directed to various technologies. At Myers Bigel she focuses on patent prosecution in the electro-mechanical arts with an emphasis on biomedical devices, working in the firm’s mechanical, biotech and trademark practice groups.
Prior to her legal career, Richardson gained more than eight years experience in engineering and manufacturing with General Electric, including GE Medical Systems and GE Aircraft Engines.
She is a past Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
